In-person planning meeting

Our CAN is looking forward to working on activities and events in 2023, and our first meeting this year will be an in-person meeting only at Twin Forks Park on January 18 at 7 pm to review 2022 activities and plan 2023 activities.

The nature of this kind of planning meeting makes it hard to hold in a full hybrid model (in-person and virtual/livestream) but if this is a barrier for anyone, please send us an email and we'll see how we can accommodate your participation.

Every year, all CANs must provide a financial reconciliation of the yearly $2,500 operating grant we receive from the City of Greater Sudbury, plus a report on the previous year's activities and a plan for next year's activities. This is a requirement for receiving the grant, and this information must be submitted by January 31.

On January 18, we will review the information that is currently being prepared by the CAN Chair for submission and will approve the contents.

All draft reports for the meeting will be available by 4 pm, Monday, January 16 in the following Google folder.

Information about CAN meetings

CAN meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of every month with the exception of December, July and August. As we transition post Covid-19, we are meeting both in person and via Zoom depending on the requirements of the meeting. Generally, all meetings are 90 minutes in length. Meetings can be general update meetings, planning meetings, or special meetings targeting a particular project or issue.

Depending on availability, our Greater Sudbury Policy Service liaison usually provides an update for Ward 8 at our general meetings. Some of our meetings have an invited guest that presents a specific topic that has been identified as important to our community. Depending on the topic, the presentation/discussion typically last from 30 minutes to an hour. Our standing agenda items focus on planning and organizing upcoming meetings, events, projects, and activities.
