Details:
The Ward 8 Community Action Network and the Twin Forks Neighbourhood Association are partnering to install a splash pad at Twin Forks. There are over 1,300 children under 14 years of age within easy walking/biking distance of Twin Forks, and who will be able to come to the park without having to cross a busy road like Lasalle Boulevard or Barrydowne Road. This splash pad will allow families to more often use the park, and will encourage more children to come to the park to meet friends, to play safely, and to cool off in the summer.
Our eco-friendly splash pad will use less water, be push-button and battery operated, and will provide safe and environmentally-friendly fun for families.
The City of Greater Sudbury has provided Healthy Community Initiatives funding in the amount of $94,100 towards the cost of the park. We want to raise a total of $115,000 to complete the funding that will be required to install the splash pad, and to provide seating and landscaping. Any additional funds will go towards installing additional features at the splash pad, including possibly a shade structure and small change room.
