Budget 2017 Public Information Session
This is your opportunity to tell the City of Greater Sudbury where and how you want your tax dollars spent for 2017!
Discuss the City’s $528 million dollar operating budget and the many services the City provides. Get answers to your questions. Mayor Brian Bigger, Ed Archer (Chief Administrative Officer) and Ed Stankiewicz (Acting Chief Financial Officer) will present the new process for Budget 2017 as well as the new public input process which will be followed by a question period.
At this time, staff have been directed to work on a business plan that will result in a general tax levy of no more than 3.6%, a water/wastewater rate increase of 7.4%, and a possible capital levy of 1.5%.
In dollar amounts this would mean that a resident with a house assessed at $230,000 would be paying about $9 more per month for property taxes in 2017 and about $6 more per month for water/wastewater. The special Capital Levy would result in about $3.75 per month in order to address some of the infrastructure needs of the City.
The budget process is expected to conclude with Council approving the 2017 budget in December. You can read the whole budget process here:
