2023 Ward 8 CAN Executive Committee Elections and Nominations – Now Open Until Friday March 17 at 5 pm
The Ward 8 CAN is bound by the City of Greater Sudbury's Community Action Network Standard Operating Procedures which provides guidance for CAN elections and voting. The Procedures were paused during Covid, but came back into effect in 2022.
According to the Procedures, elections must be held every 2 years. Because our last elections were held in 2018, all Executive positions described in the Procedures are now up for election: Vice, Vice-Chair (or Co-Chair), Treasurer and Secretary. The 2023 Elections will be held on March 22 at our Annual General Meeting. Nominations for these 4 positions are open on March 13 and will close on March 17.
In order to nominate someone or stand for elections, you must be a Member of the Ward 8 CAN, eg "any Greater Sudbury resident who resides or owns a business or property in the established boundaries of the CAN".
If you qualify to be a Member, you will be able to vote online on March 20, 8 am to March 22, 4 pm via a form that will be posted on our website, or in person at the AGM on March 22. Filling out the bottom part of the voting form will serve as your application to be a registered Member of the CAN.
If you wish to self-nominate, please fill in both portions of this form with your personal information.
Nominations will be posted here as they are received:
Chair: Rachelle Niemela
Vice-Chair (or Co-Chair): James Mealin
Treasurer: Patrick McCoy
Secretary: Theresa Anderson-Butcher
