SUMMARY:Art in the Park
DESCRIPTION:This event will celebrate the first community art installation in Ward 8! The art is a project of the Ward 8 CAN and the Twin Forks Neighbourhood Association. A well known local artist\, Johanna Westby\, worked with students from Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School to create the community art panels that will be installed next week at the Twin Forks community garden. Because the garden is dedicated to the memory of the late Fabio Belli\, former City Councillor\, the students involved in the project included children from his wife’s Susan Belli’s class\, as well as the classes of Fabio’s daughters\, Emma and Brianna. The art was done last spring and was funded by the Ward 8 CAN and the City of Greater Sudbury through an Arts and Culture grant. \nThe installation will also include a community garden sign that identifies that the garden is a benevolent garden – a garden by the community\, for the community. This sign is funded by a City of Greater Sudbury Healthy Community Initiative grant and installed for free by Bruce Tait Construction Limited and community volunteers. \nPeople who attend can also learn about how to get involved with the community garden and about our edible forest gardens – Sudbury Shared Harvest will be expanding the existing garden during the event. \nThere will also be a free BBQ! \nThe event is sponsored by RBC Royal Bank.
